Wouldn't it be an extraordinary experience to be someone else? I mean, forget who you are, and turn your life on another wholly new environment
What Matt did in the movie, the first time to make a choice so-called downsizing was completely out of a collective decision made with wife and relief of poor debt situation. While the second time to make a decision whether or not to enter the tunnel, it was driven by Ngoc Lan, this time he made a choice to follow his heart, not just simply a big desire for humanitarian. That transition is not suddenly happening out of reason. Matt's thought was changed overtime since he met with Ngoc Lan, a brave, determined and little bit stubborn Vitnamness woman.
I have to say this movie is incredible in the sense of the scientific background set up, for example, how downsizing, this biotechnology could have impact on human species, and how could this save the human extinction. However, I wondering that if the director could give more spots on that part, especially more discussion on the economic and political issues, since I was firstly believing that there would be some kind of conspiracy behind that, but turns out not mentioning. Ahaha, maybe I was overthinking.
Overall, a very dramatic storyline and an astonishing idea.
