Why are you a doctor？Because I want to read novels and poems as long as I could.

To be an English teacher.You have to fall in love with stories，literature. When you are doing that，you are always trying to see things from someone else’s view. You try to occupy a different space.When you are in the middle of the story, you are in a state of possibilities .No matter what depressness in real life,the text is kind of living thing.It’s a dance, and you’re going to have a conversation with it. Sometimes, you love a poem so much. Every time you read it, you learnq something new and you feel transformed by it. It’s a very complicated but faithful relationship.

What are we doing here?Firing him isn’t going to change the culture here. When is your last time come to the classroom or have a personal interaction with student? Those are our students. Our job is not trick them or manage them or make them fall in line. Our job is to offer refugees from bullshit to level with them. Why should they trust us? The world is burning, and we’re sitting up here or worry about our own indornent(没听明白）

阴差阳错进入中文系，从小便被大大小小的应试考试折磨缠身，看见各不相同的词语缠绕在一起，早已被确定的答案，讨论还有什么意义？可能在这种环境之下，英语学科或者缩小一下范围，尚未被大刀阔斧地大卸八块的英美文学，成了一片可供灵魂栖息的地方。在文学的世界里，你可以抱怨，你可以发牢骚，你可以不完美，因为他们接受完整的你，无论你是什么模样。这点我近来读中国古典诗歌时，感想尤盛。文学，可以就是讲一个简简单单的故事，在当时人看来再普通不过的细节，但经过放大艺术化的处理，它就变成了美。不是太卷，也不是躺平，是一种介乎于两者之间的平衡状态。可以平静地听作者讲一个故事，看他微笑，抑或在心中替他默默酸楚。当记忆不再是为了留住转瞬即逝的想法、感觉，而是变成一个又一个量化的分数，没有再剩下一片阴凉，可倚靠休息的地方，文学又有什么存在的意义？
