It is a cozy, touching romantic story, told in a unique way. Watching such an incredible romance makes one feel warm even in chilly weather.
Little pleasant surprises flowed in a stream throughout the movie. I have never expected Gerry to be such a fanscinating man and lover. Nor have I thought of the love-at-one-sight thing happed in the idylic national park in Ireland. It was soo...beautiful.
In the beginning, I looked on an young couple's typical quarrel over trivia, set in a rented apartment in Lower East Side, New York. The dialogue demonstrated common differences between two genders and misunderstandings between lovers. There was quite a lot of tension in the quarrel, which was not my favorite. The reconcile part was lovely, though.
Love sometimes spoils a person, I guess. Holly had lost herself, or rather, abandoned her plans for art career, since she met Gerry.
All of a sudden, Gerry's physical existence was gone. Somehow, he became an eternal part of Holly's life. Whenever Holly heard Gerry's words, from a recorder or a letter, it seemed he was always around, encouraging her to move on and supporting her to build a better self.
Love makes the world go around. Cliche as it is, it's the truth. Love from Gerry, Mom, girl friends and boy friends, makes Holly a lucky woman.
Is a happy ending for loved ones cliche? Maybe. But who doesn't like happy endings? Seemed everything finally were put in the right place. When I saw two Irish gentlemen (respectively) hitting up on Holly and her mom, when I saw Denise getting married and Sharon having a baby, I can't help smiling. When it turned out Daniel and Holly had no sexual interest for each other, I felt relieved as Holly did.
The last but not the least, I like the cast of the movie. Not just the leading actor and actress. I'm sure you love the cute blonde who plays the part of Denise as much as I do. She has been so funny in Friends and this movie that I can't resist her charm. Are you impressed by the direct questions: "Single?-Gay?-Working?" and-Kiss......
Although a fiction, it has a healing power for people who doubt about love. Thanks to the fantastic movie, insomnia as I get, I've enjoyed the sleepless night. :p
