Down the Season 5, I can't believe that I really enjoyed every minute of these five seasons. I never thought I would lay a glance on soap opera, let alone love it.
The director magicly plans all the complicated relationships, coincidences, giant happiness & tragedies into daily life, making us believe that this would actually happen everyday around ourselves. He sharps each charater but blend them into the surroundings we are all familiar with.
Start from my favourite housewife - Gabrielle Solis. Though she might not be the No. 1 surviver since at least she is rich most of the time. I like the atitude she has to life. Realistic and tough as a model. She survived her poor childhood, temporary impoverishment, her husband's illness and the kids she hates. At the end of Season 5, she bented again to take a teenager girl into the house from the family she hates. This also represents a same thing of all the actresses-----kindness inside.
Lynette Scavo. This character was developed from Season 2. During these seasons, she and Tom rise from other couples as they are the only couple that never aparts. Her persistence, right extent of manipulation of her husband, protective gesture for the family and smart talking are really attractive. Her cute kids certainly helped in the first couple of seasons. But I don't like her grown-up twins. Lynette survived long years without her career which was everything to her, her husband's daughter out of marriage, cancer and her son's possible jail time. She is going to have another twins in the next season, really anticipate to see they are boys or girls.
Susan Myer. The most funny and irresponsible mom in the show. The only thing she survives from, I would say relationships and marriages. Karl, Mike and Jackson, not only one by one, but circling around. That's suppose to be an annoying character, but her kindness and humor seals her special personality.
I give my least favor to Bree Hodge. Her compulsory personality and contolling needs are really not my type. As a traditional woman, she accepts the facts that her son is a gay and her daughter is practically a slut. That's enough to show her bravery. I admire her courage to take up her own career.
All other characters including all the husbands and kids, Karen, Eddie Brett, Bob & Lee, Dave Williams, Catherine, only makes this show better and tasteful. The only akwardness I feel is the relationships always circle. It's a bit unnatural seems people never flies out of this town and characters are always dating with other's exes. Eddie and Carlos, Mike and Catherine, Karl and Bree in next Season. Well...This only reminds us it's a TV show after all.
I have some worries for next Season. I'm afraid the director is going to focus on the teenager girl transferred to Solis's. I don't want to see another version of . Karl and Bree would also be a bore for me. So I hope the shows give more insights of Lynette and Susan's families.
To survive always need you to break your rules. That's what we call the process of maturity----something we learn with a lifetime. Having this conscience, then blessed with endured friendship, there is nothing missing from a decent life.
