Plot Summary:Ralph Burton is a miner who is trapped for several days as a result of a cave-in. When he finally manages to dig himself out, he realizes that all of mankind seems to have been destroyed in a nuclear holocaust. He travels to New York City only to find it deserted. Making a life for himself there, he is flabbergasted to eventually find Sarah Crandall, who also managed to survive. Together, they form a close friendship until the arrival of Benson Thacker who has managed to pilot his small boat into the city's harbor. At this point the tensions rise between the three, particularly between Thacker, who is white and Burton, who is black.

◎末世题材之下，视角放在最后的人身上： 一人行，孤独求生； 二人行，别别扭扭； 三人行，鲶鱼效应，直面矛盾。 结尾流俗，不过片尾的「开始」非常可爱。
世界末日只剩下两男一女，工人阶级好青年，面对美色不为所动，自顾提升自己的专业技能以及培养艺术鉴赏能力。而失去妻子孩子的资产阶级白人，使出浑身解数泡妹。结局如何？令人怀疑题材…
超前的悲天悯人的社会意识的科幻设定,最终却毁在三人行上了.当全世界只剩下你一人时,愤懑绝望孤独如海一般包围着你,谁会拒绝像莎拉那样的美女呀.可拉尔夫因自己的黑人身份硬生生地拒莎拉于心门之外,直到本的到来打破了两人的平衡.
真是一山难容二虎。。。
部分基于The Purple Cloud，让我很感兴趣，但没有着重在描述the last man如何成为城市废墟之中的国王，而是与孤独对抗的方式——追逐女人（白人），或者收藏、保存人类文明（黑人）。找到的newsreel是我最喜欢的部分：有选美比赛和卫星发射，最后地球转动的画面出现（新闻的结束，也是世界的）
末世的科幻外衣，内核是五十年代的社会宣言。结尾的说服力有些薄弱，除此之外，剧作写得十分细腻谐趣。不同肤色不同阶层的一对男女，一个务实智慧，一个热烈感性，不自觉地进入热恋，剪头发场景把失败的挑逗描摹得十足隐晦。歌手出身的贝拉方特很有感染力。【5/10】
